Five Metaverse Games You Need to Play in 2022

Metaverse games continue to grow rapidly in 2022, and there’s something for all of us. Read on to find out which upcoming metaverse games you have to get ready for.

Since the birth of modern gaming in the early 1970s, most of us have at some point invested time, effort and money into video games. From Animal Crossing to Call of Duty, there’s a title and genre for everyone. By 2023, it’s estimated that the number of worldwide gamers will reach 3.7 billion. With the global metaverse market set to reach 678 billion dollars by 2030, it’s no wonder businesses across the globe are beginning to invest in metaverse games.

What is metaverse?

Though ‘metaverse’ is now a common term, it can still be a tough concept to understand. Most people refer to it as a virtual reality where users interact with each other in a computer-generated world, representing a technological shift in how we talk to friends, shop, and (yep, you guessed it!) game.

Sooner rather than later, our living rooms may play host to a fully immersive simulation of real life, whether attending a 3D concert or visiting a different country, all from the comfort of your own sofa.

Now you know what the metaverse is, let’s get to the fun part!  What metaverse games do you absolutely need to look out for in 2022? Let’s take a look.

My Neighbor ALICE

Animal Crossing lovers have to check out My Neighbor Alice

Enjoy feel-good games with an adorable animation style and a detailed natural world? Well, you’re not alone. Nintendo’s best-selling game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has sold over 37 million copies since its release in 2020.

With the chance to make friends, catch wildlife, and design your own island, millions of us have fallen in love with this cutesy game. If you’re a fan of Animal Crossing then you’ll love the upcoming metaverse game My Neighbour Alice

My Neighbor Alice combines a detailed, relaxing game style and narrative with an NFT ecosystem. It’s a multiplayer builder game, where players can buy, own, and decorate virtual islands, as well as collecting items and meeting friends think farming games in the metaverse,

It operates on a play-to-earn model, with potential cash earned through trades and NFT collecting.

We’re confident that fans of Animal Crossing will love My Neighbor Alice. There’s no demand to get involved in their GameFi model and you don’t need to own a crypto wallet or invest in the ALICE token.

If you are interested in the crypto side of My Neighbour Alice, check out the latest information on the in-game ALICE token here

Release is slated for Q2 2022, with land sales also available.

Pokémon fan? Meet the metaverse equivalent

Pokémon remains one of the biggest IPs around, with an estimated worth of 110 billion dollars. Since 1993’s Pokémon Red and Green, over 122 games have been released, alongside a long-running TV series and several feature films.

The unique powers and aesthetics of Pokémon keep the franchise evergreen, not to mention the abundant regions to explore and conquer. There’s even online competitions where you and your Pokémon can compete against other players.

Now, imagine metaverse games meeting Pokémon…

Pokémon and Revomon share obvious similarities (looking at you, name!), and it’s hard to not get excited about what this up-and-coming metaverse game has to offer. Revomon combines virtual reality with NFT technology, giving players the chance to create, trade, and sell their own NFT Revomons.

According to its creators, Revomon is “a metaverse where players can socialize with each other while hunting for wild Revomon. Think Axie Infinity meets Pokémon Go but in a fully immersive virtual reality (VR) environment.”

Combining the best aspects of the Pokémon franchise and adding the ability to earn money while playing, Revomon is certainly one to keep your eye on. Need to know more? A beta version of the app is already available, and you can find it here

Grand theft metaverse

Though not without controversy, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is not-so a guilty pleasure for many of us . Stealing cars, robbing banks, and fighting rival gangs are all part of a day’s work in fictional cities like San Andreas and Vice City.

Sinverse takes the premise of GTA and adds both blockchain technology and a GameFi model, meaning actual cash is up for grabs. Set in virtual real-world locations, such as Las Vegas and Rio de Janeiro, developers describe Sinverse as “laced with violence and gore.” Metaverse games have never been so immersive.

The native $SIN token can be spent to purchase in-game land, with 17 districts to explore and over 15,000 plots available. For more Sinverse, check out their website and white paper here

Take a nostalgia trip and check in to Bit Hotel

Metaverse games have never felt so nostalgic.

Gamers in their 20s and 30s will look back on Habbo Hotel fondly. Known for its social interaction, players resided in virtual hotels where they could design rooms, play mini games, and trade items. Habbo was even responsible for a wedding

Fans of Habbo Hotel will love the web3 reboot called Bit Hotel. Its nostalgic 8-bit design stays true to the original game, however, players can now trade in-game NFTs in the form of characters, rooms, and furniture.

Bit Hotel keeps the same social nature as its predecessor, with users able to talk and trade in chat rooms. New features, such as the ability to cash out trades and earn real money, are also in development. Digital Real Estate is a popular commodity on the platform, with the game already making millions of dollars in revenue.

If you’re interested in investing in Bit Hotel, or simply want to play the free version of the game, you can check it out here

Ethlas Metaverse

An accessible arcade for on-the-go gamers

Ethlas Metaverse is one of the most accessible metaverse games on this list. It’s free to play, easy to use, and, even better, in-game gems can be exchanged for real-life cash! Gems can be earned in mini games, such as GEM attack! (much like Candy Crush), Wordlas (Wordle), and Tappy Flappy (Flappy Bird).

Need another way to play? Like other farming games in the metaverse, you can purchase your own NFT monster, take part in fishing, farming, and explore the local town.

Gamers keen on exploring the world of Ethlas can read the game’s white paper here.
